Hytale Early Access - January 13th, 2026

Hytale is officially entering early access on January 13, 2026, with pre-purchases opening on December 13, 2025. After a long and unexpected journey for the developers, the game is finally back on track, and I wanted to share a quick update on what this means for our community.

Two weeks ago, the original founders of Hytale stepped back in and brought the project back to life after its cancellation. They’ve returned to the beloved legacy version many fans remember from the 2018 trailer, and even though this meant merging more than 300 GitHub branches into a usable build, they now feel confident enough to launch early access.

Because the team revived an older prototype-focused build, some parts of the game may feel a bit rough or behind at first - but development momentum is strong, and the vision for Hytale is clearer than ever. The modding and creative tools are already in decent shape, and while they aren't where the team wants them long-term, they should be functional for creators who want to dive in on day one.

The developers have also rehired more than 40 former and new team members since the revival, bringing the total to around 50. Reacquiring a game of this scale and preparing an early access release in such a short timeframe is almost unheard of, and players will get to watch the evolution of the game in real time.

If you're unsure about pre-ordering, there's no pressure. Early access will be a true work-in-progress, and things will be imperfect for a while. But what's important is that Hytale is moving forward again, and the community will play a major role in shaping it.

Our Plans for Launch

As for us: we’re incredibly excited for what’s ahead. With early access now officially dated, we’re hoping o have near-fully functionality for our platform on Day 1 of Hytale.

Between now and January, we’ll be working continuously on polishing the site, improving features, and making sure creators and server owners have a home the moment Hytale opens its doors again. Our goal is to support the community from the very start and grow alongside the game as it develops.
